Lactose Intolerance

Lactose intolerance is a condition where the body is unable to fully digest lactose, a type of natural sugar found in milk and dairy products. It occurs when the small intestine doesn’t make enough lactase, an enzyme needed to break down or digest lactose.

Symptoms

  • Bloating
  • Pain or cramps
  • Nausea
  • Gurgling or rumbling sounds in your belly
  • Gas
  • Loose stools or diarrhea

Treatment

While here is no cure for lactose intolerance, treatment for symptoms can include:

  • Limiting or avoiding milk products
  • Dietary supplements
  • Use lactase enzyme tablets or drops
  • Buy lactose reduced or lactose free products
